Welcome to the first of it's kind solar-powered-mobile-converted-fishing-boat-seaweed-kitchen. Or just Cafe Môr for short.
Located on the very Southwest tip of Pembrokeshire overlooking the very beautiful beach of Freshwater West.
'môr' means 'sea' in Welsh
and is pronounced the same way as 'more'
Our humble little beach shack is pretty notorious on the British street food scene. In 2011 it was awarded 'Best of the Best' at The British Street Food Awards. In 2014 Cafe Môr won the BBC Food & Farming award for 'Best Street food/Take Away in the UK' and earlier. In 2016 we were invited to represent Wales in Japan to cook our famous lobster rolls in Welsh Sea Black Butter.
From 2015 onward we started doing something spectacular. We became the second of only two mobile food outlets in the UK (both from Pembrokeshire) to power their kitchens using solar.
My big passions have always been great seafood, hand picked local seaweed and celebrating classic Welsh dishes with a modern twist.
It has been our home since 2013 and every year it gets busier and busier, we no longer advertise as word of mouth seems to be the best form of advertisement. Some days can be really really busy so please be patient with us and help us out by letting us know that you are coming especially if you are in large group. The best way of contacting us is by calling the Cafe Môr mobile: 07422 535345 (only in operation from Easter till end of September).
To avoid queues it is best to arrive early and plan ahead. Please be aware that we are a mobile fishing boat which has only one griddle, one fridge and our own water tank and power bank. We are on the very edge of Southwest Wales and it is a wild unspoilt beautiful location managed by the National Trust, in the UK only Coastal National Park.
As it is in the National Park the Fishing boat trailer has to be removed daily and so it takes time to open up and close down, hence our opening hours.
Also we are prone to the occasional flat tyre, missing door, broken freezer and missing signs (when it gets windy) and all other wonderful things that life sometimes throws at you, so sometimes we may be late arriving or early closing when I am on the school run. Weather conditions can quickly turn at Freshwater West and while we try and go out every day between Easter and September sometimes the weather can be to severe and dangerous to operate in.
So please follow us on our Instagram and Facebook pages to see if there have been any issues as well as any potentially amazing, life changing specials that we do from time to time :), thanks and look forward to seeing at the beach.
